The separation that existed for parents between an "online life" and a "real life" is not the same for our children - they are growing up in an online world. Social and cultural change has not kept pace with technological development. We have had thousands of years of social and cultural history to teach us what works and what does not work as parents. The onset of the internet and social media has happened so rapidly that we don't have the same tool set for online parenting. These same issues also effect the vulnerable and disadvantage.
It is the mission of the Institute for Internet Safety to change this dynamic and to develop the tools we need for effective online parenting and education and to apply these same tools to help the vulnerable and disadvantaged.
